How to Check Your 2023 JAMB Result via SMS or Online?

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the governing body responsible for processing undergraduate admissions into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, recently released the results of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This year, a total of 1,586,765 candidates took the exam across 708 CBT centers nationwide, according to JAMB. The UTME plays a significant role in determining a candidate's chances of securing admission into tertiary institutions.

 

After the release of the results, candidates are required to check their scores. JAMB offers two methods for checking UTME results: via SMS or online. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to check your result using either of these methods.

To check your results through SMS, you will need a mobile phone with the SIM card you used for your examination registration. Simply send a text message with the content "UTMERESULT" to either 55019 or 66019. Your result will be sent as a text message to your registered phone number.

However, it's important to note that you may receive one of the following responses:

1. "THIS PHONE NUMBER WAS NOT USED FOR REGISTRATION": This means you are using a different phone number from the one you used for registration to check your JAMB result.

2. "RESULT WITHHELD": This indicates that your result has been withheld by the examination board due to certain reasons, such as malpractice or technical issues.

3. "RESULT WITHHELD PENDING THE UPLOAD OF CLARIFICATIONS/DOCUMENT REQUIRED FROM YOU": This response suggests that your result has been withheld and will only be released after further investigation and the submission of the necessary documents.

4. "CANDIDATE ABSENT": This means that you did not sit for the examination.

If you prefer to check your JAMB result online, here are three easy steps once the online result checking portal is open for 2023 candidates:

1. Go to the JAMB official website at https://www.jamb.gov.ng/Efacility and log in to your account using your email and password.

2. After logging in, a dashboard will appear. Locate and click on "Print Result Slip" on the dashboard 

3. A payment portal will be displayed, and you will be prompted to select your preferred payment method. Once payment confirmation is successful, proceed to the final step.

4. You will be required to provide your registration number and examination year. After entering this information, click on "Print Result Slip," and your JAMB result will be downloaded automatically onto your device.
